Mission Statement

Founded in 1850, the Dominican Friars of the Western Province (Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus) serve tens of thousands across the Western U.S., and internationally, in missions, parishes, campus ministries, schools, colleges, and various specialized ministries. The Dominicans have had a profound impact on society; helping people live meaningful lives, developing healthy communities, and enriching society academically and spiritually.

About This Cause

The Order of Preachers (Dominicans) was founded in 1216 by St. Dominic de Guzman. The Dominicans have had a profound impact on our culture, helping people live meaningful lives, developing healthy communities, and enriching society academically and spiritually. The Western Dominican Province are those friars serving in Alaska, Washington State, Oregon, California, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Nevada, Idaho, and Hawaii; as well as some international missions in Lithuania, the Philippines, and Mexico; and teaching positions at universities in Europe and elsewhere in the U.S. In the Western Dominican Province (Founded 1850), the Dominicans have served countless people of every demographic; running schools, parishes, campus ministries, charities for the poor, conferences and retreats, itinerant preaching, media efforts, the arts, teaching, and a host of other ministries.
