Mission Statement

Assistance League of Los Altos is a nonprofit, nonsectarian volunteer organization that transforms lives and strengthens community through local Philanthropic Programs. In September 1968, the organization purchased the property at 169 State Street, Los Altos for our Chapter house.

About This Cause

Operation School Bell® Alphabet at Sunnyvale Elementary School District- providing school supplies and nutritious snacks for SED students at 5 Title 1 schools. Providing scholarships for Science Camp, school uniforms where needed, new books for libraries and classroom reading. During Covid-19 shelter-in-place we are providing extra groceries to homeless and SED student families to supplement student meals provided by school district. Many parents became unemployed immediately when social distancing went into effect. Hospital School- providing school supplies and books for inpatients at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, Palo Alto. Patients undergoing treatment for long periods attend class to keep up with studies, hoping to return to school when discharged home. Baby Bundles Partnering with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department we supply newborn babies in need with necessities including diapers, equipment, clothing and blankets. Many items are made by our member volunteers and supporters. Distributions are made by PHN's visiting homes to evaluate newborn and mother's health, teach childcare, and encourage well-baby visits and vaccinating against disease.
