Mission Statement

Since 1906, CII has grown into one of the largest and most established social service agency in Los Angeles, serving more than 28,000 children and families every year. CII works with the child and the whole family to provide critical support services through a trauma-informed care model. We as an organization focus on three main principals “readiness, recovery, resiliency” to help foster healthy families and build the foundation for safe communities.

About This Cause

CII is one of the oldest and largest child and family services organizations in Los Angeles County. Our focus is on helping children and families who are affected by trauma—from poverty, community and family violence, abuse and neglect. We serve nearly 28,000 families each year in some of Los Angeles’s most underserved communities. CII has 3 major campuses: our headquarters located just west of downtown in Rampart/Westlake; our historic Mid-Wilshire/Koreatown campus, and the Burton Green Campus in Torrance, which serves communities in south LA County. In addition, we have major centers in Watts—soon to be expanded w/a campus designed pro bono by Frank Gehry—Long Beach, and 30 early childhood centers in central and south Los Angeles. We help the whole child and entire family by providing comprehensive, integrated services, which include: clinical treatment, early childhood, youth development and family support. And we inform the field (of child welfare) through the research, training, and outreach of the CII Leadership Center. CII is unique for its trauma-focused, integrated approach, its longevity, and its capacity to address the changing needs of underserved children and families.
