About This Cause
Founded in 1926 by Pasadena volunteers who began passing a hat to friends and family, raising money to help local families in need – Today, Foothill Family operates seven family centers that provide essential mental health and social services, including education and outreach programs to over 25,000 individuals annually. Efforts are focused on high-risk children and families in high-need communities across the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys. Aligned with our mission to empower children and families to achieve success in relationships, school, and work through community-based services that advance growth and development, Foothill Family’s services focus includes the following areas: (1) Mental Health Care – We provide effectual mental health assessments and treatment for children, adults, and families, with a focus on evidence-based practices. (2) Early Childhood Development – Our Zero to Five Services provide parents/caregivers (including expecting parents) and their young, high-needs children with essential early intervention, detection (i.e., autism or developmental delays), and preventive care during their child’s critical developmental years. (3) School-Based Behavioral Health – At 183 schools across 18 school districts, we assist children and youth exhibiting social, emotional, and behavioral challenges for them to succeed at school, home, and in their communities. (4) Youth and Family Services – We provide comprehensive mental health care for children and their families; as well as treatment and support services for victims of abuse, neglect, or domestic violence. Our case management and mentoring programs help pregnant and parenting youth attend and graduate from high school, raise healthy babies, and learn affirmative parenting skills. We are steadfast in our commitment to aid Southern California’s most underserved populations and motivated by our vision for brighter futures in which individuals and families thrive, communities are strengthened, and generations are enriched.
