Mission Statement
United Way of the Inland Valley's mission is to Unite people, ideas, and resources, with the community to improve lives. We do this by fighting for the education, financial stability, and housing of every person in our community. In Housing we fight to: Improve access to affordable housing Overcome obstacles in housing and health In Education we fight to Improve early grade reading levels Increase the high school graduation rate Increasing college access rate In Financial Stability and Workforce Development we fight to Improve financial literacy for all individuals Prepare, coach, and match young adults to employment opportunities
About This Cause
UWIV serves a large portion of Western and Southwestern Riverside County, including the cities of Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, Jurupa, Mira Loma, Beaumont, and Banning. United Way envisions a world where all individuals achieve their human potential through education, financial stability, and housing. Most of our problems didn't develop overnight, but with the rate of our regional growth, some new ones may pop up before the morning comes. Meeting these challenges requires an organization ready to take on these concerns, whether they are of long standing or are emerging with changing times. It takes focus, responsiveness and discipline to achieve lasting and meaningful change. Most of all, it takes people in our community who care. United Way's leadership role in the Inland region enables us to bring together people who have a stake in our community to ask the tough questions. We believe that the most effective way to care is with an intelligent, measured approach - assessing the problems, researching the solutions and gauging the results. We don't just collect and distribute money. We multiply its value by leveraging donations, government funding, grants, people and resources. We fund programs that make a difference in our community. And, we hold both our community partners and ourselves accountable for achieving real impact with every dollar you invest. Our efforts through our internal programs GEMS, FIT Academy for Foster Young Adults, and Early Reading Program, combined with our community grants to 35 local non-profit partners, and our donor designations of more than $1.6M annually, make United Way of the Inland Valleys a major force for good in Riverside County.
