Mission Statement

Wayfinder Family Services is the place for children facing the greatest challenges. Our mission is to ensure that children, youth and adults facing challenges always have a place to turn. Wayfinder strives for a world in which every child and family can overcome the obstacles they face—a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. All of Wayfinder Family Services’ programs are offered completely free of charge, which is critical as the majority of those we serve are low-income.

About This Cause

Wayfinder’s mission is to ensure that children, youth and adults facing challenges always have a place to turn. Founded in 1953 as the Foundation for the Junior Blind, Wayfinder is a human services agency with expertise in child welfare, mental health, visual impairment and multiple disabilities. Wayfinder is one of the largest statewide foster care and adoption agencies in California, and we provide services to more children who are blind than any other nonprofit in California. Across our programs, Wayfinder strives to achieve equity for all our clients, most of whom are low-income people of color. We serve more than 21,500 children, youth, adults and family members annually. Our name became Wayfinder Family Services in January 2018.
