Mission Statement
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
About This Cause
For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts has provided girls, ages 5-17, with more ways to learn and lead than any other organization. Girls of all ages and abilities, from every ZIP code, are developing the values and skills they need to live their best lives. Girl Scouts of Orange County serves more than 15,000 girls in Orange County who are supported by nearly 10,000 adult members, leaders, advisors and mentors. Girl Scouts help make our community a better place to live by contributing more than 500,000 hours each year to community service, addressing important issues such as poverty, homelessness, child and eldercare programs, animal welfare and the environment. Girl Scout alumnae are living proof of our impact. More than 59 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood—and that number is growing as Girl Scouts continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere. Approximately one in every two adult women in the U.S. has at some point been a member of Girl Scouts. 66% of female leaders in government, business, education, medicine, science and their communities were Girl Scouts. 92% of female astronauts and 68% of women in Congress were Girl Scouts. Of Girl Scout alumnae, 63 percent consider themselves competent and capable, compared to 55 percent of non-alumnae. Girl Scout alumnae report a significantly higher household income ($51,700) than non-alumnae ($42,200). Read more facts from the Alumnae Impact Study conducted by the Girl Scout Research Institute.
