About This Cause
STEM ENDOWMENT FUND INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF AEROSPACE The Aerospace Corporation has been dedicated to helping its customers meet an increasing demand for expertise in an ever-changing technological landscape. In recent years, the number of U.S. students studying the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and math) has steadily declined. This presents a growing challenge to our industry, and a direct challenge to our ability to assemble the finest technical talent pool of innovators, scientists and engineers needed to shape the space enterprise. The Aerospace Corporation established the Dr. Wanda M. Austin STEM Endowment scholarship in 2015. The fund provides financial assistance to underrepresented and underprivileged high school students who demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership skills, and intend to pursue undergraduate study in a STEM field at a four-year college or university. The Aerospace STEM Endowment scholarship program demonstrates the corporation’s commitment to inspire future engineers and scientists. Selection is based on financial need, academic performance, and leadership potential. Scholarships are awarded and/or renewed annually (up to four (4) years), provided funds are available and the award recipient meets the conditions outlined below in Scholarship Renewal. Applicants are invited to apply based on Aerospace’s relationship with selected schools where we are located. The Aerospace STEM Endowment scholarship(s) are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based on the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.
