Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Residential Community Foundation, LARC Ranch, provides both residential and day program services to developmentally disabled adults. The mission of LARC Ranch is to educate and empower developmentally disabled adults to attain the highest level of independence they can. This is done through repetitive training, positive reinforcements and supports, genuine caring and love.
About This Cause
The LARC Ranch main campus is located on 65 acres in the serene countryside in Saugus, CA. The campus consists of 13 individual homes that provide residential services to more than 100 adults, along with support buildings, a Physical Therapy complex, a swimming pool and jacuzzi, a full park with bocce ball courts, basketball half-court and softball field, a gymnasium, the LARC Adult Development Center (ADC) Day Program, an auditorium, outdoor pavilion, multi-purpose room and administrative offices. LARC also has two facilities in the city of Santa Clarita, just a short distance from the main campus. LARC Industries is a community based day program that provides pre-vocational training and life skills training. LARC Apple Street home is a residential facility to 6 adults on Apple Street in Newhall. All LARC facilities strive to provide optimal care! All LARC residential staff are certified and trained Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) and have continuing education throughout the year on working with and accommodating DD/ID adults while assisting them in attaining their independence. 10 of the 13 homes on the LARC campus are for adults ages 18-59, they are Adult Residential Facilities (ARF). Three of the homes are for our population as they age. Residents that are 60 years plus can transition into one of the Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) Facilities where there is a greater staff to resident ratio to accommodate their changing needs as they age. Depending on the needs not all residents that are over 60 years of age need to transition to the RCFE, but the higher level of care is there if it is warranted. LARC takes pride in all residents have choice and input into all aspects of their lives. From roommates, to meals, to day programs and jobs, LARC residents decide what they want to do and who they want to do it with on a daily basis. Each resident has an Individual Program Plan (IPP) that is developed with both long term and short term outcomes/goals. These are reviewed for appropriateness every 6 months and annually at a team meeting with all of the important individuals in the residents life. This meeting is a time to discuss progress, growth and potential change and new outcomes for the upcoming year. All LARC facilities are licensed by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing and vendored by the North Los Angeles Regional Center.
