Mission Statement

Ninety-five years. That’s a long time and a lot of trust. United Way of San Diego County has stayed vital to this community since 1920 for good reason: we know how to put the right people together with the right resources to make the right things happen. Right now, our ultimate focus is to help San Diego’s children and families grow stronger. Today's United Way is bringing people, organizations and communities together around a common cause, a common vision, and a common path forward. Our Vision: United Way envisions a vibrant community built on opportunity for everyone. Our Mission: To spark breakthrough community action that elevates every child and family toward a brighter future.

About This Cause

What Does United Way do? Using a collective impact approach – acting as a project manager to unify the resources of dozens of local partners – we’ve been able to improve the lives of children and their families across the region, while engaging new partners and organizations along the way. This cross-sector collaborative approach isn't new to United Way. Our current work with both the City Heights and the Vista Partnerships for Children, and our past efforts with Project 25, are great examples of Collective Impact in action: bringing people together from all walks of life to be a part of local solutions. Where multiple stakeholders align their efforts to tackle a problem together. The Goal: Elevate every child, from cradle to career The Cause: Creating stable families and smart kids The Progress: We’re tracking our success – and it’s working! The Way: The United Way! A powerful unifying catalyst improving the lives of local children & families. Join us!
