At Child and Family Guidance Center, we envision children and families flourishing in vibrant communities. CFGC empowers children and families to achieve health and well-being through innovative mental health services and community programs.
About This Cause
For over five decades, Child and Family Guidance Center has provided quality mental health services for low-income children and their families throughout the San Fernando, Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys. The Center serves more than 20,000 clients annually. These young people struggle with trauma, neglect, abuse, depression, teen pregnancy, substance abuse and antisocial behaviors. Youth at risk for mental illness often go untreated for years and even a lifetime. The negative social and economic repercussions are enormous. As we all know, the consequences of untreated mental illness can be devastating. CFGC is committed to meeting these goals: Eliminate mental-health stigma; erase poor health habits; promote solutions; provide health education; Raise awareness about the importance of children and families' mental health; Increase safety and community wellness; Provide access to high quality mental health services. Many of the children we serve have gone on to become college graduates, respected business people, community volunteers and loving mother and fathers. Thousands have avoided hospitalization and/or incarceration, substance abuse and separation from family. CFGC aids families experiencing difficult life experiences and helps them to overcome and triumph throughout their lifetimes. Our support creates better lives and makes communities a healthier, better place to live.
