Mission Statement

Mardan provides an alternative education option for students in all grade levels – from at-risk primary grade students just beginning to experience difficulties at school, to high school students seeking a smaller, more individually-focused and supportive environment. Mardan School serves grades K through 12th grade. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and certified by the state of California as a non-public school (NPS). Mardan classroom teachers hold the California Education Specialist credential, and many also hold other teaching credentials, including Multiple Subject and Single Subject credentials. Our curriculum is based upon California State Essential Standards, with remediation and enrichments provided as needed. All grade levels are supported within our general philosophy and approach, but with slightly different emphases and structure.

About This Cause

Our mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and/or emotional challenges. We provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches the academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success. We help children achieve these goals with our unique educational approach, which is based on three simple ideas: Each Child is Unique. A Safe and Structured Environment Promotes Academic, Social, and Emotional Growth. Some Children Need More Than Just a School – They Need a Community. We know that it is possible for children to achieve their goals in an understanding and supportive environment that nurtures each student’s individual potential. Our primary responsibility is to create a safe and welcoming environment for each of our students. Our dedicated and caring team values the “whole child,” guiding social and emotional development as well as academic achievement, to help our students find fulfillment in all aspects of their lives. We foster a strong sense of community, emphasizing security, acceptance, and belonging. This is invaluable for students who are angry, anxious, withdrawn, have experienced failure, or who no longer trust in themselves or others. At Mardan, their strengths are valued and their weaknesses addressed. Students learn to be responsible for their choices and to find satisfaction in what they can accomplish in an environment where their needs are understood and cared for.
