Mission Statement
For more than 50 years, we were known as Help Hospitalized Veterans. As technology and medical care have improved, many of the veterans we serve are not hospitalized, in fact, many receive treatment in their homes and other locations. With that in mind, we have updated our name to Help Heal Veterans (HEAL VETS) to better reflect the modern reality of the work we do. The core of our organization remains the same. Our mission is to provide therapeutic craft kits to every veteran who wants them.
About This Cause
Help Heal Veterans is the nation’s largest supplier of therapeutic arts and crafts kits used at federal, state, military and community health care centers, and also furnishes products to homebound veterans. Each week we supply hundreds of therapeutic craft kits to any military service member or veteran receiving medical care. Kits include a wide variety of crafts and materials such as leatherwork, models, woodwork, jewelry, painting, needlecrafts, poster art, scrapbooks and many more. The kits aid in rehabilitation, designed to restore coordination and impaired motor skills, improve attention spans and concentration, and relieve symptoms of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and other conditions. They are also used as a diversional therapy and recreational outlet for patients. Contributions made by our generous donors provide the funds needed to offer these products to America’s veterans and military servicemen and women.
