Mission Statement

Olive Crest is dedicated to Preventing child abuse, to Treating and Educating at-risk children and to Preserving the family… “One Life at a Time.”®

About This Cause

In 1973, Dr. Donald and Lois Verleur took in four teenage girls and opened their first home for children in Orange County, California. Drawing from the olive tree in the front yard and the idea of a family crest, Olive Crest, a name symbolizing “peaceful family,” was born. Today, more than 50 years later, Olive Crest has grown to become a leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse, serving nearly 5,000 children and families each day throughout California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest. In a critical step to combat human sex trafficking, Olive Crest has also launched a comprehensive initiative across Southern California to provide underage survivors of human sex trafficking with immediate safety, essential services, and a pathway to stable housing. (Please go to olivecrest.org for more information.) Over the last five decades, Olive Crest has transformed the lives of 250,000 children and families by preventing child abuse, equipping and educating children in crisis, and preserving the family… One Life At A Time.®
