Mission Statement
At Childhelp, our goal is to meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children. We focus our efforts on prevention, intervention, treatment, and community outreach. Childhelp programs and services help children from any situation and let them experience the life they deserve: one filled with love. The principle theme across all of our programs is to provide children we serve with an environment of compassion and kindness.
About This Cause
The shadow of abuse and neglect stretches through lifetimes, gradually shortening futures through disease and sorrow. It echoes in habits and memories from pasts a survivor might prefer to leave behind. The wounds that mark a young heart may remain hidden for years or even decades before finding light. Childhelp is here so survivors of abuse never have to feel alone, and we’re asking for your help. Through the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILD; childhelphotline.org), survivors, concerned family members, friends, teachers … anyone … can speak immediately with a trained professional counselor about issues or concerns over child abuse, and around 100,000 help seekers reach out each year. At the same time, the Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe prevention education curriculum is in classrooms and community centers across America and worldwide, already having reached more than a million students with child-friendly safety rules to help adults keep them safe. For survivors of abuse who visit Childhelp Advocacy Centers, a team of therapists, social workers, and community partners listens and provides care to children in the wake of abuse. Part of the work is building a case against the perpetrator, but most of the effort centers on rebuilding little lives interrupted by violence and despair. With foster care and adoption programs, residential treatment facilities, and outreach initiatives, Childhelp meets victims wherever they are in their healing journey and sets the stage for brighter futures and healthier, safer survivors.
