Since 1974, Culver Palms Meals on Wheels has provided meals delivered by volunteers to people who are homebound due to age, illness, or disability in Culver City, Palms, and surrounding neighborhoods, ensuring that no one goes hungry.
About This Cause
Support Culver Palms Meals on Wheels: Nourishing Local Seniors with More Than Just Meals. As time passes, even the most self-sufficient among us may encounter difficulties that jeopardize our mobility, health, and overall well-being. Since 1974, Culver Palms Meals on Wheels (CPMOW) has stood as a beacon of hope for homebound seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those recuperating from illnesses in the Westside of Los Angeles. Our committed volunteers deliver more than just meals. Monday through Friday, our volunteers provide hot or frozen meals and offer hope, companionship, and a vital lifeline to those grappling with food insecurity, mobility issues, and loneliness. What Makes CPMOW Unique? Personalized Care: Our dedicated volunteers deliver meals and check in on our clients, offering wellness calls and personal connections to help combat isolation. For many of the seniors we serve, these interactions are essential lifelines. One of our clients shared, "It gives you peace of mind. You know that the meals will be there at a certain time of day." These meals are not just about nutrition; they are about independence. They support our clients' ability to live on their terms while providing peace of mind to their families, knowing their loved ones are checked on daily. Immediate, Personal Support: Unlike larger organizations like LA Food Bank or Feeding America, CPMOW offers something unique- immediate personal support. When someone calls us and says, "I'm hungry," we respond immediately. We don't just deliver food- we provide care and compassion directly to their door. That's the power of our community-focused approach. Community-Centered: We proudly serve the Culver City area and westside neighborhoods from Pico Boulevard to LAX and from La Cienega Boulevard to the coast, addressing the specific needs of seniors in our communities. Our volunteers often know our clients personally, building trust and ensuring they feel seen and cared for. Financial Independence: Unlike many organizations, CPMOW operates without government funding. We rely entirely on donations and community support, which allows us to be flexible and responsive to our clients' needs. Due to rising food costs, we are subsidizing over 67% of the food costs for clients who cannot afford meals. More Than Meals: Our service extends far beyond delivering food. We offer hot and frozen meals and sandwiches tailored to each client's dietary and medical needs. Plus, we provide the social and emotional support vital for seniors living alone.
