About This Cause

Mariposa Women and Family Center (Mariposa) was founded in 1977 to address the glaring need for accessible, affordable mental health and substance use disorder services for women in Orange County, California. We have since expanded to serve not only women, but men and children as well, providing targeted services for underserved groups. Since our inception, Mariposa has become a regional expert for mental health care on a wide range of issues involving substance abuse, violence, and trauma. We serve over 1700 individuals annually as a CalWORKS behavioral health services provider and through our Hybrid Community Counseling Program (CCP), which provides at-risk and low-income Orange County residents with free or discounted in-person and/or online counseling. Mariposa’s primary goal is to ensure that high-quality mental health and substance abuse treatment is available and accessible to everyone who needs it.
