Mission Statement
Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County's (NHS) mission is to serve as a catalyst for local residents, business and government representatives to work together to build stronger neighborhoods, improve the quality of life for low to moderate income families and revitalize communities into neighborhoods of choice. We do this by developing and maintaining quality affordable housing, creating and preserving affordable homeownership opportunities, supporting local leaders, providing financial education and increasing the financial independence of families and people in need.
About This Cause
NHS is Southern California's largest nonprofit affordable homeownership provider, a HUD-certified housing counseling agency, a national NeighborWorks network affiliate, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and a USDA-designated Farm Service Agency for the work we do in urban agriculture and food security. The organization offers services which help to reduce debt and build wealth through: Financial Education and Counseling, Affordable Mortgage Lending, Project Management Services (home restoration and rehabilitation), Mission-Driven Real Estate Services, and Neighborhood Revitalization & Advocacy.
