Mission Statement
Our sole purpose is to support the Wilshire Branch Library and its librarians and staff and the community that is served by them.
About This Cause
The Wilshire Branch Library, part of the incredible Los Angeles library system, is a small neighborhood library. Our library is tucked into a residential area, a wonderfully diverse area; diverse both in people and types of households and living structures. We, the Friends, support the specific needs and wants of this branch. We buy books requested by the librarians, we provide honorariums for lecturers and performers, we purchase equipment needed for programs, we provide items that the staff needs, we underwrite some of the children's craft programs. We recently provided new pictures for the Community Room, we have at least one children's activity a year. The Friends are all volunteers, we have no paid staff. We have a few administrative expenses, mostly fees paid for certifications of various sorts--city and state. Otherwise all our funds are spent in service of our beloved library.
