Mission Statement

The people of the Himalayan Region, predominantly of Tibetan and Buddhist heritage, struggle with severe economic hardship and also face the difficult challenge of maintaining their cultural identity. The projects initiated by Thrangu Rinpoche and sustained by the Himalayan Children’s Fund aim to preserve the cultural identity of the Himalayan people while providing basic living assistance, medical care and education.

About This Cause

The Himalayan Children's Fund is a way for people around the world, and the west in particular, to connect with the lives of people in the Himalayan Region of Nepal, India and Tibet. Established in 1987 by students of Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, the HCF provides support Rinpoche's many compassionate activities such as schools, monasteries and free clinics. By providing support for education, food, clothing, medicine and other needs we hope to equip the children and adults with the tools necessary for life enhancement while helping to preserve the culture of the people which is primarily of Tibetan and Buddhist heritage.
