About This Cause
Rising Communities (RC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing equity, health justice, and economic resilience in Los Angeles County. For over 30 years, RC has worked alongside historically under-resourced communities to dismantle systemic barriers and co-develop transformational models that drive lasting change. Our Mission RC’s mission is to co-develop transformational social equity models and systems in service to communities, to help each person thrive. Our Work & Impact At Rising Communities, we recognize that true equity requires a multi-faceted approach. Our key initiatives focus on: Health Equity & Community Well-Being – Advocating for access to quality healthcare, reducing health disparities, and addressing social determinants of health through policy change and direct community engagement. Economic Resilience & Workforce Development – Strengthening career pathways, small businesses, and job opportunities through skill-building programs, financial literacy training, and capacity strengthening initiatives. Education & Training (Learning for Equity - L4E) – Equipping individuals, organizations, and institutions with the tools and training necessary to foster equitable and just systems. L4E offers equity-based curriculum, certification programs, and professional development tailored for public health, social justice, and workforce development sectors. Civic Engagement & Policy Advocacy – Working with policymakers, community leaders, and grassroots organizations to promote policies that support thriving, healthy communities.
