About This Cause
To bring the compassion and wisdom to Silicon Valley, Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale was established in March 2004. The Zen Center welcoming people of all cultures and faiths or no faith. In a tranquil environment, people learn the ageless wisdom of Buddhism, discover the joy of meditation, attain inner peace, and uncover the “True Nature” within all of us. Year-round, the Zen Center offers Zen meditation and Buddhism classes, retreats, workshops, Zen services and ceremonies, and other activities, serving all age groups. To date, diverse participants come from Sunnyvale and other cities in Santa Clara, south Alameda, San Mateo, and San Francisco counties. We also offer vegetarian lunch and dinner to the general public. We are very conscientious about environmental issues, 80% of our lighting uses LED, and we have over 220 solar panels provide our yearly electricity usage. We often receive visitors from various colleges and schools for their class project. We also go to schools, from elementary school to college, to teach meditation. We have been invited by various local companies and county offices to teach meditation on site. We are actively engaged in community activities. We participate in Sunnyvale City's Fit 'n'Fun annual event, join in City of Sunnyvale's Green Initiative, host Red Cross blood donation event 3 times a year, and offer seed and plant exchange opportunities to the community. We are active in interfaith community as well. Being the founding board member of SiVIC (Silicon Valley Interreligious Council), we have participated in Interfaith dialogues, hosted several interfaith workshops, and has been on many interfaith discussion panels.
