Mission Statement

Healthcare for Homeless Animals (HHA) funds vital veterinary care and compassionate support to at-risk animals at the Agoura Animal Care Center. Our mission is to ensure that every animal in the center has access to necessary medical treatment, rehabilitation, supportive care, and the chance to find a loving forever home. We advocate for animal welfare, good health and second chances.

About This Cause

Healthcare for Homeless Animals (HHA) has been saving lives since 1996. We provide vital private veterinary care for animals in need at the Los Angeles County Agoura Animal Care Center. Without our intervention many of these animals would suffer needlessly, not be adopted, or would be euthanized even though their condition is treatable. Animals of all ages, from the unweaned to the elderly, are helped by HHA. We provide dental cleanings and extractions, senior wellness exams, surgeries, medications, prescription food, physical therapy and even Veterinary Specialists visits. The shelter system in Southern California (and many other places) is overcrowded and overwhelmed. Agoura is fortunate that although sometimes crowded, especially when transfering animals from high intake locations, our animals get quality care, enrichment and frequent human interaction. Because HHA has taken care of individual animal health situations, the general health of the shelter population is not compromised by contagious disease spread. The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control provides only the very basic veterinary services. Many seized or surrendered animals need 'beyond the basic' care in order to be successfully adopted. For the community we serve, we bridge that gap and bring these animals to good health.
