Mission Statement
One Mission with Two Functions Hawaii's Only Free Dental Clinic & International Surgical Missions
About This Cause
Our mission “Bringing Hope and Improving the Lives of the People We Serve” continues to be the guiding force behind this non-profit organization in Hawaii. AMM was founded in 1983 by volunteer physicians, who wanted to give back to the community by providing free surgical and dental care to people who lacked access to health care overseas. Realizing the importance of bringing such services to our own local community in Hawaii, AMM opened a free medical and dental clinic at the Institute for Human Services in 1995 through charitable foundations that were willing to support this concept of free health care to the uninsured and underserved. AMM then relocated in 2002 to the historic Palama Settlement, once the home of the Strong-Carter Dental Clinic. In 2010 with generous funding from various investors, such as the Hawaii Dental Service Foundation, the Dental Clinic became full time with a dentist, 2 dental assistants, a clinic manager, a program director, and an outreach worker. AMM’s flagship presence is Hawaii’s only free dental clinic and today we continue to foster hope, volunteerism, and quality dental and surgical care.
