Organization Overview Portland United Hockey League (PUHL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of ice hockey in the Portland community. Our mission is to provide accessible and welcoming hockey programs for players of all backgrounds and skill levels, while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth through structured athletic education. Core Activities and Programs 1. Inclusive League Play (50% Time Allocation) What: Organized recreational hockey league with multiple skill divisions Who: PUHL volunteers and certified instructors When: Year-round programming (three seasonal sessions) Where: Winterhawks Skating Center Program Elements: Skills development and instruction Team formation and player development Safety and sportsmanship education Mentoring opportunities for new players Partnership Structure: Facility agreement with Winterhawks Skating Center Program management by PUHL volunteers Player registration and team organization Funding: Player fees with scholarship availability 2. Skills Development Program (20% Time Allocation) What: Structured hockey instruction and practice sessions Who: Certified instructors and experienced volunteers When: Weekly throughout the year, as ice time is available Where: Partner ice facilities Program Elements: Beginner instruction programs Advanced skills clinics Goalie development sessions Team practice facilitation Funding: Participant fees with financial assistance available 3.
