Mission Statement
Vision: We are a good news centered 24 hour, seven days a week community who knows that brokenness doesn’t keep business hours. Mission: “We seek to live life in the kingdom by loving God, loving others and inviting others to do the same by creating sacred space where people are welcome and safe to meet Jesus face to face as we do life together.
About This Cause
When we take into consideration the community that we are placed in, the idea of reaching churched people seems few and far between. Most of our community have no concept of church nor do they really have a desire for it because they are still living oblivious to the extent of their brokenness. Many of the people in our community have a negative outlook on the church for various reasons; some have been deeply scarred by the church when they were members, others have felt unaccepted and others have felt like church people belittled them because there was no relationship between them and the church. Open Door exists to invite the broken into the restorative work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to create a community where we all can become the people God intended us to be. This means we are here to empower people and walk with them through the transformation of becoming the image bearers of God. We don't want to be the ones who bring change to people lives, but be the ones who God uses to invite them into relationship with the one who can. All we can do is plant seeds, add some water, but the growth has to come from God. We will be a 24 hour community who makes the love of Jesus available at the precise moment it is needed because we recognize that brokenness doesn't keep business hours. This community is created through individual relationships, who gather together to partner in Kingdom work and have a greater concern for God and others than self. We want to love people in the midst of their lives by creating sacred space that people can meet Jesus face to face. We acknowledge and will make known that the earth is the Lord's and everything in it, making every moment an opportunity to encounter God regardless of where we are. We do this by being an incarnational ministry that experiences life in all facets of the community we are serving. We know that each individual has a unique response to each situation and circumstance so learning the language of the people God has surrounded us with gives us the ability to win them to Christ. This will give us the opportunity to live out grace and love in a more practical way because everything we do has the intention of imitating Jesus to the Weston Ranch community. Our core team meets once a week to pray, strategize and dig into God's word together. We will also be meeting once a quarter for an outreach event in different locations throughout the Weston Ranch Community. We also have a fellowship barbeque once a quarter to meet people in the neighborhood to begin gathering and empowering people to participate in kingdom work by bringing food and inviting their friends. In August we will begin bible studies to start growing and equipping our launch team for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Training each person to understand and embrace that they have a role to play in the Kingdom work and in this community.
