Mission Statement
We, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception of Peoria, Illinois, an evangelical religious congregation of the Roman Catholic Church, are called to make God's compassionate presence known through our vowed life in community. In prayer and simplicity we dedicated ourselves to ministries of service primarily in the dioceses of Peoria and Springfield.
About This Cause
The Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, a diocesan congregation of religious women, have served the Catholic Church in central Illinois since 1890. Sometimes called the Heading Avenue Franciscans, they are headquartered in Peoria and primarily serve the dioceses of Peoria and Springfield. The sisters are involved in ministries such as education, adult literacy, counseling, social work, retreats, spirituality, and diaconate program. They also serve at St. Joseph's Home in Springfield, a retirement home for the aged with a century-old reputation for providing quality care to men and women of all racial and religious backgrounds. To support their ministries, retirement, and other needs, the sisters raise funds through annual appeals, direct mailings, bequests, and fund-raising events. They gratefully appreciate donations and contributions to help them further their mission of "making God's compassionate presence known."
