Mission Statement
Covenant Presbyterian Church is a community that sees all people as being created in God's image and loved by God. Therefore, we welcome all and are open to all people serving in leadership positions in the church (i.e. women and LGBTQIA persons also serve in all leadership roles). We are particularly committed to a mission of breaking stigmas associated with mental illness and caring for persons and families impacted by it. To this end, we created a “Beautiful Minds Coalition” to do ministry within our congregation, forged a close relationship with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to participate in ministry throughout San Antonio, and helped launch a national mental health ministry movement to be transformative in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Covenant Presbyterian Church is also committed to being a safe and inclusive space where our diverse Campus Partners can both benefit from focusing on their own mission and also benefit from the synergy of sharing resources and wisdom across the variety of groups sharing our space. Our Campus Partners focus on the following: Respite Care for seniors with mild to moderate dementia, Parent Support Groups and training for Children with a dual diagnosis of a mental health and learning disability diagnosis who are trying to navigate the IEP/504 System in Public Education, Teacher Workshops on Learning Disabilities/Mental Health, rehearsal and office space for a premier LGBTQIA Choir, Support Groups & Activities for LGBTQIA youth and their families, and two congregations comprised largely of immigrants from Africa and the West Indies. Covenant also welcomes many sports teams that practice in our gymnasium and hosts many children involved in Covenant's BSA Troops & Cub Pack. Covenant hopes you will support our ministry and outreach to the San Antonio community. Whether you are married, single, divorced, or in transition, you truly matter to us because you matter to God.
