Mission Statement
PACS provides basic services to disadvantaged families in the Portland, Oregon area. The organization and it's dedicated volunteers and donors emphasize dignity in its programs and services that includes a grocery model food pantry and mobile food pantry, a low-cost dental clinic for uninsured adults, and a thrift store with extremely low-cost clothing and household items. In addition to paid staff, PACS has nearly 250 volunteers monthly. Last year, volunteers contributed over 36,000 hours.
About This Cause
Food Pantry is open 9-11am Monday through Friday and provides emergency food on a walk-in basis to low-income people. Recipients must reside in the state of Oregon and PACS asks to see some form of evidence of Oregon address (one of the following: photo ID, utility bill, piece of mail, or other). Over 6,000 adults and children receive 3-5 days of food on a monthly basis from PACS. The food pantry is a grocery store model giving clients the ability to choose from a range of fruit, vegetables, dairy, proteins, and grains. PACS also has a mobile food pantry that serves eight low income neighborhoods and communities in our region. This service provides access to low income families and reduces the travel burden for families with transportation challenges. The mobile pantry provides a grocery model mirroring our food pantry. PACS Thrift Store provides low-cost apparel and household goods. The hours are Sunday 11a - 4p | Monday - Thursday 9a - 5p | Friday 9a - 2:30 | Saturday - CLOSED. PACS Dental Clinic, Gateway Grace Clinic, is a caring non-profit serving low-income uninsured adults. Gateway Grace Clinic is trying to help adults who fall through the cracks that cannot qualify for the Oregon Health Plan and unable to afford private dental insurance (up to 300% of the federal poverty limit).
