Mission Statement
"Fostering Dignity Among Those We Serve" Portland Adventist Community Services – PACS is a vibrant faith-based Community of Service made up of staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners who work together to provide food, low-cost dental care, and low-cost clothing/household items to Portland families.
About This Cause
Every month, over 5,600 adults and children, some homeless, but most who are living in low-income households, receive food from PACS. The groceries that families receive from PACS help them to meet their food needs for the month. Our procedure for distributing food in a safe way is to fill boxes with fruits and vegetables, grains, meats, beans, and dairy products, and place them directly in your vehicle when you come. You will receive a 3-5 day supply of groceries for all of those living in your household. PACS also has a mobile food pantry that serves eight low income neighborhoods and communities in our region. This service provides access to low income families and reduces the travel burden for families with transportation challenges. The mobile pantry provides a grocery model. The PACS Thrift Stores are located on our campus at 11020 NE Halsey St. and sell clothing, furniture, and household items to help families make their money go further. Our commitment to you is that we sell quality items, at low cost, provide an organized shopping experience, and provide high-quality customer service. PACS Dental Clinic, Gateway Grace Clinic, is a caring non-profit serving low-income uninsured adults. Gateway Grace Clinic is trying to help adults who fall through the cracks that cannot qualify for the Oregon Health Plan and unable to afford private dental insurance (up to 300% of the federal poverty limit). A nominal fee is charged for each visit.
