Mission Statement

At Guion Creek Elementary School, a commitment to do what is best for children guides everything we do. We understand that developing positive relationships with the community we serve is essential to our success. Guion educators enjoy working closely with students, their families, and each other to achieve collective goals. Every day our teachers have the privilege of learning alongside approximately 600 students who are inquisitive and full of potential. This ethnic and geographic diversity of our school community prepares our students for an increasingly global society. Our highly qualified educators are committed to learning about each child’s interests, discovering their talents, and building on their strengths. This approach helps our students feel safe, secure, and supported. We are dedicated to implementing best practices that provide the foundation necessary for our students to grow academically, while making sure their individual needs are met. At Guion Creek Elementary School: --- Learners frequently engage in hands-on, project based STEM activities. --- Students have opportunities to experience instruction in science, technology, engineering and math. The Indiana Department of Education certified Guion Creek as a STEM School. --- Our robotics teams, The InvestiGators, have qualified for local, state and world competitions and won several accolades. --- We are one of three schools within Pike Township to offer the High Ability Program. --- Our Newcomers Program supports the needs of our English Language Learners. --- Our classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. About This Cause

Guion Creek Elementary School is in the MSD of Pike Township, Indianapolis. We are excited about introducing you to our InvestiGators - an energetic group of third, fourth, and fifth graders with a strong work ethic and love for robotics. These students have worked their gator tails off to excel in the arena of VEX Robotics and are gearing up to attend the VEX IQ World Championship in Dallas, Texas! Our InvestiGators have earned two Judges Awards, an Excellence Award, and a Design Award in various competitions. These future engineers have designed, built and programmed two robots to drive through a course of challenges. At the State Finals, they were recognized with the Think Award - a technical award given to teams with impressive and effective autonomous programming. The VEX World Competition is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate and learn with peers from other countries. The InvestiGators will spend a week in Dallas, competing and engaging with teams from all backgrounds. Such an enriching experience comes with a hefty price. We don’t want the price tag to deter our students from being able to participate. Please consider sponsoring this ambitious group. Donations will help pay for registration, travel, and lodging costs. In the last two years, our teams qualified for Worlds and competed virtually because of the pandemic. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover the costs for our students to attend the 2022 World Championship. At the end of the 2022 World Finals, any funds that remain will be used for equipment and future competitions for our robotics teams. Our school community thanks you for your support!
