About This Cause

PS 138M is a non-profit, public special education school in New York City. Our school serves Pre-K - 5th grade students from low-income families with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy in East Harlem. Since September, our school has opened with in-person learning even though most schools around the country have been closed due to COVID-19. Our amazing staff has made the impossible happen - safe classrooms with students who cannot socially-distance or wear masks. As a public school with no private funding, our teachers are forced to regularly spend money out of their own pockets to supply their classrooms with cleaning and sanitizing products as well as individual learning materials for students. With teacher appreciation week approaching, I am trying to raise money for our staff to honor their selfless efforts and to help them purchase more supplies for their classrooms. Our educational staff consists of 62 amazing teachers, paraprofessionals, and therapists, all of whom risk contracting COVID-19 daily to serve our special education population. Funds raised will be given to school staff to purchase items to keep their classrooms safe such as desk dividers, individual sets of learning manipulatives, cleaning and sanitizing products, etc. Thank you for honoring our amazing school staff and helping us keep our school safe.
