Mission Statement
It's My Closet's mission is to provide new and gently used clothing, toiletries, and household items to Lafayette School Corporation students and their families.
About This Cause
Over 68% of children in Lafayette School Corporation (LSC) received free or reduced lunches. So It's My Closet was created to provide gently used and new clothing, and household items to LSC students and their families. Families may shop once a month to select clothing for the entire family. New clothing items are purchased as funds are available; currently, all elementary school students can choose a new pair of pants and a top, and each month either new socks or new underwear are provided for all children. Finally, when funds are available, toiletries are provided; currently, families are given toothbrushes for everyone in the family, toothpaste, deodorant, dental floss, facial tissues, bar soap, chapstick, feminine products, dishwashing liquid, shampoo, and toilet paper. Lafayette School Corporation provides the buildings and pays for utilities and maintenance in those buildings and all of the workers are volunteers. Therefore, there is no overhead needed for It's My Closet. All donated funds are used to purchase items for the shoppers.
