About This Cause

The CCSD is proud to be one of Ohio’s eight largest urban districts. We strive to educate the whole child and provide high quality learning experiences. We offer educational programs, arts, sports, and partnerships, which help our stakeholders evaluate our effectiveness beyond standardized testing measures. We are Stark County's largest school district, serving over 8,000 students. We are home to a nationally acclaimed Speech and Debate program, first class theatre arts, college degree opportunities, career technical education with job certifications, Adult Education, and the best in competitive sports. As an Urban district we are faced with unprecedented levels of poverty and need within our community of families. Many lack everyday basic needs such as food, clothing and transportation. Additionally many lack access to medical, dental and vision care as well as housing. It is the goal of the district to bring wrap-around-services to our community and meet the needs of our families by offering a one-stop location which will house the services, programs and organizations necessary to meet their needs. It is our goal to open a Parent Resource Center. The center will be accessible to ALL families, with the hope that over time we are able to offer a food and clothing pantry, access to medical, dental, vision, mental health, childcare, pre/post-natal, laundry and legal services. Through partnerships with local housing organizations and employment agencies, our families will have the opportunity to become gainfully employed while living in safe, clean and healthy environments. In addition to addressing the basic needs, the district would like to extend learning opportunities and job placement to our families and those within the community that could benefit from this support. By ensuring our families and students have their basic needs supported we will be able to assist these individuals in building the confidence they may lack to become contributing members of the community. The possibilities for the center to strive and serve are endless. Our students and families are the backbone as well as the future of this community. It is our job to ensure they succeed both in and out of the classroom.
