Mission Statement
Saint Mark’s, a college preparatory Catholic high school, inspires young men and women to create a better world, one more pleasing to God and more helpful to others.
About This Cause
The mission of Saint Mark's has remained unchanged: "to inspire young men and women to create a better world, one more pleasing to God and more helpful to others.” Rooted in Catholic values and traditions, Saint Mark's High School provides a student-centered, coeducational college preparatory experience that nurtures each student as both an individual and as a contributing member of the school and local community. Admission to Saint Mark's is not limited to members of the Roman Catholic Church. Currently, approximately 83% of the student body is Roman Catholic, and 17% of the student body is non-Catholic. Current enrollment at Saint Mark's is 716 students, reflecting a male/female ratio of approximately 50:50. The student/teacher ratio is 11:1 and the average class size hovers around 25 for all classes and 20 for Advanced Placement classes. Approximately, 98% of all Saint Mark's graduates will matriculate to a college or university. Saint Mark’s continues to be an educational leader in the state. In addition to its challenging college prep and honors courses, the school offers an extensive list of Advanced Placement Courses. In partnership with the University of Delaware, the school also offers dual enrollment courses that enable students to fulfill their graduation requirements and to receive college credits from the university. These dual enrollment offerings include English E110 and several courses offered by the University of Delaware’s’ College of Health Sciences. These exciting course offerings are just one way in which the school enables students to achieve excellence.
