Mission Statement
Ursuline Academy of New Orleans, founded in 1727 and sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters, is a Catholic school for girls offering a strong educational environment from early childhood through a college preparatory secondary program. In a diverse community with an inspiring heritage, Ursuline Academy fosters spiritual formation, academic excellence and a life-long commitment to Serviam: I will serve. The Academy values the uniqueness of each student, nurtures the whole person, develops leaders of confidence and compassion, and prepares them for life in a global society.
About This Cause
Ursuline Academy is an almost 300 year-old school in New Orleans, Louisiana. We care for girls in all stages of growing with Lily House (6 weeks to Toddler 1), Early Childhood (age 1-kindergarten), Lower School (grades 1-4), Middle School (grades 4-7) and High School (grades 8-12). The Ursuline Sisters and alumnae have blazed trails and made their mark since before Louisiana was admitted as a state — first female pharmacist and first female photographer in the United States, Fulbright scholars, first female law professor at Loyola University in New Orleans, in the U.S. Senate, as corporate executives, National Merit finalists, Louisiana Girls Basketball champs (twice in three years) — and they continue to standout today. Our early childhood program, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, places curiosity at the center as students investigate the world around them. Project-based-learning continues through high school with interactive experiences challenging girls to expand what they’re capable of — across STEM and the arts. We don't put limits on what girls can explore and achieve. From the beginning, our girls are taught the school motto of Serviam, I will serve. Courtesy, Loyalty, and Courage are the values that Ursuline girls carry into serving others and their communities throughout their lives. An Ursuline education gives girls the courage to challenge themselves, the resilience to bounce back when they fail, and the insight to discover their passions and develop confidence.
