About This Cause

St. Cecilia School has been a proud part of the parish and Beaverton community since 1913 and currently enrolls several second and third-generation families. St. Cecilia is a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school, with one classroom at each grade level. While we are open to everyone, registered parishioners have priority in admissions. Parishioners receive a substantial tuition reduction as a result of a generous parish subsidy. To accommodate the many working families that we have at St. Cecilia, an Extended Care program is available at our facility with before and after school care offered. St. Cecilia School always welcomes your interest in applying to our school. If you would like to schedule a personal tour of the facility and/or have your child spend a half-day in the classroom, please call the school at 503.644.2619, x110. Our faculty members bring exemplary experience, dedication and professional knowledge to their students. Each learner is appreciated for his or her individual talents and abilities. An atmosphere of care, encouragement and success pervades each classroom. As a cohesive team, the administration and staff are fully committed to educational excellence and modeling gospel values. Students and their families benefit greatly from these qualities. St. Cecilia graduates are recognized by top area high schools as well-prepared students, strong leaders and well-rounded individuals. The overwhelming majority of our eighth graders continue their education at one of the five Catholic high schools in the greater Portland area. St. Cecilia School enjoys a positive and productive partnership with these institutions and monitors through a variety of ways the ongoing success of our graduates; in 2014, 95% of our eighth grade students who applied to one or more Catholic schools of their choice were accepted. In more recent years, with generous parish, parent and community support, our school underwent an amazing renovation, creating a "cutting edge" learning facility within its already engaging campus. New construction brought a high school quality science lab, music & band facility and brand new Preschool and Kindergarten classrooms—in addition to a breathtaking gymnasium/activity center, perhaps the largest of any Archdiocesan PK-8 school at over 7,300 square feet, to accommodate both our P.E. and Performing Arts programs. Added to a state-of-the-art computer lab and library facility, as well as ongoing instruction in such areas as Spanish, Art Literacy and the availability of an experienced Learning Specialist, the result is a school that truly educates the whole child. St. Cecilia School has earned the reputation for being a premiere technology leader among PK-8 educational institutions, both public and private. In addition to incorporating interactive Smart Board technology in every classroom, teachers who are highly trained in technology-learning and regular computer instruction that supports cross-curriculum education, St. Cecilia is unique in pioneering the exclusive use of digital textbooks for all students in grades six through eight in our BYOT (Bring Your Own Tablet) program; this program, a follow-up to 2011's successful "Operation: Lighten Your Load" pilot project, takes books off the backs of our students and provides them with fully digital access to their required textbooks and novels, as well as other beneficial elements of technology education. In our Intermediate grades, a mobile Chromebook cart with 30 devices is accessible to our student learners, while several NOOK Color tablets are used both individually and in small learning groups in grades K-2. A high degree of parental involvement has long been a hallmark of St. Cecilia School. Parents are involved as classroom volunteers, guest speakers, fundraisers, CYO coaches and members of various school committees. New families are welcomed and encouraged to become an active part of the St. Cecilia community. This cooperation and assistance greatly impacts the positive learning environment for all of our students.
