About This Cause
CityPoint Community Church is a faith community oriented around principles of social-justice and equality. In addition to Sunday gatherings, we build community through volunteer efforts around the city, connect for shared meals, and gather midweek for book clubs. Additionally, we manage an effort called the Community Fund, which provides benevolent support for members who fall on hard times. This fund serves as an economic safety net, upon which every member can depend. The Community Fund is modeled after 18th-century Black church groups called, "mutual aid societies." These structures helped members rebuild homes impacted by fire, survive the loss of a key breadwinner in the family, and raise startup capital for businesses. This initiative speaks to the heart of our ethos, which is to be simply caring, simply community, and simply church.
