International Rescue Committee in Seattle hosts its annual World Refugee Day celebration on 6/28/2025. We will have refugee artisans, cultural performances, culinary dishes by refugee chefs, community resources, and much more. We need MANY volunteers to help set up before the event begins, support during the event, and help with teardown afterwards. Be an integral part of a huge celebration for new neighbors in Western Washington!

Shift 1 (9a-12p)- setup decorations, parking support, moving tables and chairs
Shift 2 (12p-5p)- keep food area clean, serve food, maintain decorations
Shift 3 (4:30p-6p)- take down decorations, remove trash, reload vans, general tidying

The goal of our annual garage sale fundraiser is to raise money to support the Billings Mothers of Multiples Club’s programs and events throughout the year. This includes educational resources, family outings, care packages for new and NICU parents, and emotional support for families raising twins, triplets, or more.

Families with multiples often face unique challenges—from higher medical costs to increased emotional and logistical demands. We are seeking a senior-level, committed, and passionate individual to join EMpower's Regional Governing Board in the U.K. (preferably London). As a Board Member, you will play a crucial role in providing oversight and strategic guidance to EMpower, a global public foundation dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized youth in emerging market countries. You will contribute to our mission by supporting fundraising efforts, enhancing our regional and global profile, and ensuring effective governance. This is an influential opportunity to leverage your expertise to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and their communities.

Time Commitment:
 Attend approximately three Board meetings per year (2 hours each, evenings).
 Review meeting materials in advance.
 Attend one regional annual fundraising dinner (4-hrs, annual dates vary).
 Occasional ad-hoc advice to CEO, VP, or Development Lead (as needed).

Financial Commitment:
 Personal donation (give/get policy).
 Support fundraising efforts by inviting contacts to the annual fundraising dinner and/or other initiatives.

Other Expectations:
 Serve as an EMpower ambassador.
 Actively participate in Board duties, including budget approval, strategic planning, program investment decisions, and risk mitigation.
 Help raise awareness and build EMpower's profile (e.g., social media, articles, speaking engagements).

Key Skills:
 Strong commitment to EMpower’s mission.
 Experience in one or more of the following areas: philanthropy, international development, finance, legal, marketing, communications, or social media - marketing expertise and/or social media skills are highly desirable.
 Proven fundraising abilities or strong networks to mobilize resources.

Potential candidates for Board are interviewed by the CEO, Board (Co-) Chair, and one other Board member to answer questions and assess mutual fit for the role. Generally, nominees are presented for election at February or June Board meetings. We are seeking volunteers to come and speak to our fellows, and share insights about building a career in tech. This is an opportunity to reflect on your own journey, and give advice to fellows that will greatly improve their confidence and competence. Our fellows will also ask questions; questions are submitted via Q&A ahead of time, and we will share them prior to the event. Career instructors can provide insight about lesson content to inform discussion.
