A fun event for children, parents and the community, AV Play Day provides hands-on activities for children of every age. AV Play Day is an example of the way in which the child development community continues to come together to educate and inform parents, at no cost to them, about the importance of early childhood education.

Face to face volunteer activities--
1. Museum Tour
2. Art therapy sessions
3. Sessions on Musical instruments
4. Tutorial session among our street kids who are enrolled to formal school.
5. Story telling sessions
6. Helping in preparing hot meals for at least 100 street children once a week.
7. Organizing an outreach activity in forms of fun games, children's party among others
8. Sport clinic
9. Different recreational and skills development training.

We are asking for help with distributing 15,000 school supply kits throughout the month of August in Dallas.

Our Box of Dreams program was established 25 years ago in San Antonio and we have since expanded our services across the state.

Each school supply kit contains the following items: colored pencils, crayons, notebook paper, spiral notebook, big eraser, glue stick, folders with pockets, folders with pockets and brads, a ruler, pencils, ballpoint pens in black and red, and a box of tissues.

Distribution usually lasts between 30-45 mins per school and we ask that you show up at least 10 minutes prior to get checked in with the front office. Overall, your time commitment per school is around 55-60 minutes.

We are looking for 4-6 volunteers per school and there are costume opportunities for those volunteers that enjoy being silly.

Opportunity Details

We are planning to have a fun event for families in the community. Tickets will be sold for attendees to enjoy an afternoon of games, food, and entertainment. We will showcase the raffle baskets the community generously donates. We will be having mini golf, inflatable slide, games, grafts, and more at this event.

Volunteers are needed to set up for the event, help during the event, and clean up after the event.

Help staff the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Booth - Call 479-244-9595 to arrange convenient time slots. Encourage registration of birth to age 5 children for FREE monthly developmental books mail to their homes to improve pre-k literacy and family bonding. No experience needed - will explain on arrival. Thanks.
