Many children in our neighborhood are struggling academically, emotionally, and spiritually. As a tutor with Stowe Mission, you will have the opportunity to create a stable environment in which these students can thrive academically and learn of the immeasurable value had by each and every one of them. You will be paired with a neighborhood student. Each week, you will attend tutoring for an hour and a half on Monday evenings and assist that student. If the student brings homework, you will help them to work through that. If there is extra time or if they did not bring homework, you will assist them with age appropriate learning materials that we have onsite. You will also have the opportunity to assist them with weekly STEM projects, life skill lessons, and physical activities.
Your role as a tutor benefits our organization and community in big ways. Through your service, we are able to provide an educational resource to a community which currently has a startling graduation rate. We are also able to support students on a personal level and remind them of the value they have because of Jesus. We are also confident that God will use this role in your life as you continue to learn more about His heart for the poor and needy and how you can be a part of serving this people group. You will also have the opportunity to develop your flexibility in this quick-moving environment.

National Pike Chapter participates tin the Washington County Pennsylvania Whiskey Rebellion Festival each year with a table of information. The Chapter advertises our community endeavors. National Pike participates in an array of historic preservation projects, contributions to schools and educational programs and volunteer work which includes support for local veterans' organizations, sponsorship of programs which promote the Constitution, and donations to Domestic Violence Services of SW Pennsylvania. We would ask that volunteers help us pass out information promoting our July 18th fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse. We would like you to enjoy some of the highlights of the festival while enjoying the festival. There is a parade on Main street at 10 am, through out the day there are street performances reenacting the rebellion every hour starting at 11:15 am culminating in a tar and feathering performance at 5 pm. There is transportation to Washington Park's Fort Schneider, where there are battle reenactments and a Native American encampment. Bring a friend or two, some chairs to watch the tarring and feathering, and enjoy the festival while passing out handouts for the fundraising event.Available Shifts

We set up the book/music/movies sale over three days, and the sale runs for three days. There are opportunities for those volunteers who need a sit-down job to those who are able to pick up and move boxes of books. For setup, we arrange tables; move, unpack, and organize the books, DVDs and CDs for sale; and post signage. For the sale, we need volunteers to assist book buyers, tabulate purchases, consolidate the books and just keep everything running smoothly. After the sale is cleanup and unloading equipment.LLF is a 100% volunteer run organization that raises money for programs at public libraries in Loudoun, such as the county-wide Summer Reading Program, which keeps children engaged and learning during the summer break. We raise most of our funds through our annual book sale in June, and we're looking for volunteers to help with that.
