human-I-T connects low-income individuals and nonprofits to technology, the internet, and digital training. By reusing instead of recycling electronics, our team transforms e-waste into opportunities.

In order to this, human-I-T relies upon volunteers to close the gap between gathering these devices and handing them into the hands of low-income families. In this way, volunteers --whether they are employees, students, or just interested in learning about technology-- are at the core of human-I-T's mission and help up push devices forward.

Volunteers get a tour of our warehouse to see how technology comes in and out. They all perform the following duties:

• Inspect IT inventory assets and will be responsible to wipe data off the hardware
• Help with clean and refurbish computers & monitors
• Dispose of damaged or defective items and e-waste
• Clean, display cases, shelves and aisles and other parts of the facility in order to have a clean environment and maintain sanitary conditions
• Help in carrying and moving goods/palettes to the vehicles

The I-T team is the backbone of human-I-T and volunteers help us quickly move the computers from the warehouse and into a deserving family's home.

Beyond community donation events, we also host free digital literacy training for adult learners looking to master the fundamentals of navigating a computer. This four-part course covers the basics - from operating the device to accessing the internet and maintaining privacy online.

Volunteers help at training as "tutors", who guide students through exercises (e.g. locating job boards, building resumes, managing finances online). No deep technical experience needed, but a background in computer fundamentals is appreciated.

A CASTING CALL FOR NEW BOARD MEMBERS

Are you:

+ Passionate about early education and the environment?
+ Interested in serving on a non-profit board in Seattle?

Tiny Trees makes high-quality early learning accessible for working families by operating outdoor preschool classrooms in our public parks. As the largest outdoor preschool provider in the United States, we currently serve more than 300 children at 9 parks in Seattle and King County. These kids gain the academic and social-emotional skills to thrive in school and life, while reaping the benefits of a nature-rich childhood.

Tiny Trees’ commitment to equity, environmental stewardship, and high-quality early learning is what makes it unique. Our classrooms and our stellar teachers enable children from all backgrounds to reap the benefits of outdoor early education. Our innovative model, utilizing public parks in the community, means that Tiny Trees can open classrooms in neighborhoods where families have not always had access to affordable, high-quality preschool. Currently, 22% of Tiny Trees students speak a language other than English at home and about half receive free or reduced tuition through the Seattle Preschool Program and our philanthropic partners.

Want to help Tiny Trees Preschool grow?

We are seeking new board members who can commit to a three-year term, beginning September 2019 or January 2020. If you are passionate about our mission and want to strengthen our organization to better serve our community, let’s talk.

Who are we looking for?

Commitment of Individual Tiny Trees Preschool Board Members:

+ Each member should be prepared to invest an average of 6-10 hours per month, which typically includes: 3 hours to prepare for and attend Board meetings (11 per year, last Tuesday of each month from 6-8:30pm), 2-4 hours for committee work (per committee), and during certain months, members spend additional hours on special tasks, meetings, and events, such as the annual board retreat and annual fundraising luncheon
+ Serve on at least one board committee (finance, fund development, board development, or operational excellence)
+ Participate in the upcoming strategic planning process
+ Do at least one site visit to a Tiny Trees Preschool outdoor classroom each year
+ Attend at least one Tiny Trees Preschool community event each year

Tiny Trees Preschool gives children a quality education and a joyful, nature rich childhood. Do you remember trick or treating when you were a kid!? Having a Halloween party and getting to wear your costume at school!? At Hallsville Elementary School in Manchester we want to give students and teachers a chance to enjoy their Halloween party, get into costume, and participate in a COSTUME PARADE! We can't do it without your help! Hallsville is a Title One school, meaning it has a high population of students who are eligible for free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. It is also a school surrounded by streets that require monitoring for student safety when they leave the school grounds. All classrooms will require assistance with setting up and monitoring classroom celebrations, helping students get into costume, walking with and monitoring students in line as they walk around the streets surrounding the building as a whole school, as well as monitoring traffic/streets/sidewalks to ensure student safety while they are participating in the parade. A garden where parents will want pictures afterwards needs to be cleaned up before hand as well. Assisting in student safety and making sure all students have fun will make this day a success for our children and students!
