We're looking for skilled coders and programmers to help us make our arduino based water kits more robust.
Every season we challenge students, educators, and every day citizens to help advance the kit and the understanding of the process. We have a few advanced coding & programming based challenges that we could use help on!
Currently the kits run the electrocoagulation/electrolysis process and we want to add methods for logging data so we can share results on different water samples with the global community.
Any help is appreciated!

School teachers and afterschool leaders need help finding quality sites where they can take their students/scouts to learn about interesting science, technology, and engineering. Our free, no-registration online guide quickly helps teachers find sites near them, and helps everyone by reducing the time they spend communicating common information. You are important because you know your local area. You can search online for sites and make sure your area is represented in our guide. You can use our online form to help you organize useful data about sites.
Here are the steps to follow:
Pick an area of the country. Your local area is a good start.
Go to our Field Trip Guide: http://energyteachers.org/fieldtripguide.php
See if there are any entries in your area/state/province. If not, we really need you. If so, you might be able to add good sites.
Search online, or if you have contacts in science/technology/engineering related areas, ask around. Look for sites that regularly allow school groups, or are public access. Kinds of sites include power plants, high-efficiency buildings, nature centers, labs, colleges and universities, municipal water sites, historical sites, etc. You can look at the sites we already have to get more ideas.
Enter in the form by clicking the link at the bottom of the page in the link: "Add a site to the guide"
Enter as much info as you can. It's very useful to teachers to have a contact name/email/phone, to know which ages are appropriate, and whether there are any costs. Google maps can help get the latitude and longitude—Just right click the site on a Google map and click "What's here?" and the latitude and longitude will show in a box at the bottom of the map.
The second page will ask you what features may be found on the site, e.g. "transportation alternatives" or "history" or "hydropower."
Your entry will be checked/edited by the organization, then made public.

SLO County Creeks to Coast Cleanup invites volunteers from our community to this data-driven cleanup, to pick up trash in our creeks, parks, lakes, beaches, and coastline. Every year since 2005, ECOSLO coordinates cleanups from San Simeon to Paso Robles, down through Arroyo Grande and Oceano. Last year we removed over 6,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from nature. This event is a part of California Coastal Cleanup Day (taking place the 3rd Saturday of each September) and holds the distinction of drawing the most participation of any volunteer event over its thirty year history. As County Coordinator, ECOSLO works with the California Coastal Commission to bring out our community in the campaign for healthy waterways, coastlines, and oceans. Last year 1,300 volunteers removed trash and recyclables from 36 cleanup locations throughout San Luis Obispo County. This year we have nearly 50 cleanup sites for volunteers to choose from!
Check out our event page at http://ecoslo.org/creeks-to-coast/. Please note that while liking and joining this event on Facebook helps make it visible (and please share it everywhere!), we ask that you sign up online to help us anticipate supplies needed for each site.
