We are looking to have a corporate day of giving and remove a Class I invasive species known as "Cats Claw". This project involves digging in the sand to find what looks like little onion balls. This is an awesome project that is rewarding and has a HUGE impact. As soon as we can eradicate this plant, we will be able to start planting native long leaf pine trees and restoring the habitat.

Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our River. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, create unsightly piles in our parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and could be washed out in to our ocean and beaches!YOU can help with this critical work! The Clean & Green Team is a group of enthusiastic volunteers that focus on cleaning up storm water debris and litter. Volunteers use pickers and gloves to pack this trash into garbage bags, then haul it to a dumpster.
This event is open to volunteers of all ages, but volunteers under the age of 16 must come with an adult. Closed-toed shoes are required. Sun protection, water and a snack are highly recommended. All supplies are provided. Community service hours can be verified. Groups of up to 30 people are welcome if space allows.
RSVP Required. To RSVP or learn more, please email volunteer@sandiegoriver.org or call (619) 297-7380.
This event is part of I Love a Clean San Diego's annual Creek to Bay Cleanup.

Why plant trees in communities? The Arbor Day Foundation plants trees to help communities heal after natural disasters such as: hurricanes, fires and floods. We can strategically plant trees in communities to address crime reduction, urban heat island effect, green infrastructure, community pride, and beautification as well.In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, many Texas communities lost critical tree canopy. As a continued sign of hope and recovery, help us plant trees in our local community.
Children age 5 and above are welcome to participate as well as any other friends and family. We ask that you wear closed toe shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Tools, supplies, planting instructions, and trees are provided at each planting event, creating a seamless volunteer opportunity where all you need to do is arrive ready to dig in!
