Mother Africa is seeking qualified new board members to join our board. Specifically, we are seeking individuals that have lived or worked in Africa or with African communities, have a passion for serving the community, and can dedicate a minimum of 5 hours per week to board service.

Specifics: Our board meets once monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 6pm-8:30pm at our office in Kent. Key events for this year are: planning a fun and engaging Fundraising Breakfast in May, hosting our annual Cultural and Resource Night in November, participating in community activities and events ongoingly, growing Mother Africa's reach and influence in the region so that we can support more families.

Key skills we are seeking:

Event Planning and Management
Community Development and Engagement- with African communities if possible
Fundraising experience- donor stewardship and grants
Accounting expertise

- Gestión del Merchandising. Contactos con Agencias. Apoyo en elaboración de un plan de seguimiento y fidelización de socios, donantes, posibles donantes y voluntarios.

On September 29, 2018 in beautiful Brambleton, Virginia, two and four-legged athletes will race to Crush Cancer at Both Ends of the Leash in the 2nd Annual Two By Four Race Against Childhood & Canine Cancer. In its first year, the race saw more than 350 participants and raised nearly $16,400, bringing together our Loudoun community and beyond, including runners, the childhood cancer community, dog lovers, families, running clubs, Girl and Cub Scouts, and school and community volunteer organizations in a unique one-of-a-kind event. Even with little planning time for the 2017 race, more than 350 participants and 18 sponsors made it a huge success. We are looking to more than double those numbers this year! We will need lots of wonderful volunteers to help on all aspects, including Race Planning, as well as on Race Day( Registration, Course Marshalls, Water & Food Stations, Volunteer Management, etc.)

Opportunity Details

This is a great opportunity for a tech-savvy teen or young adult to help us grow our non-profit. We need to raise funds to expand all of our programs. To raise money, we need to define projects, create a story/message, and maintain the projects on our website, Facebook page, Benevity Causes Portal, and Razoo Fundraising page. If you have artist talents and would like to design logos for our programs, that would be nice, too.

Opportunity Details

Local potters create handmade bowls while restaurants donate soup. For $20, all donors receive a handmade ceramic bowl, soup and a raffle ticker. Local volunteers staff the event. All proceeds benefit local hunger relief projects.
