We love trees! We love planting them and watching them grow.We want to give every child this joy.
And, in the process, beautify our neighborhoods, remove carbon from the atmosphere, and help instill in the hearts of our little ones a sense of magic, wonder, and love for our planet.
Neighborhood Forest is a non-profit, social venture dedicated to giving children their very own tree to plant on Earth Day – for free – every spring. Since 2010, Neighborhood Forest has mobilized over 2,000 schools, libraries, and youth groups, engaged over 500,000 volunteers, and given over 197,000 trees to children in all 50 states (plus Canada and Mexico).
Our dream is to reach every child in North America and eventually the world.
We create volunteer opportunities for corporations, which help us reach more children.
Some of these opportunities include:
- Employee pledge drives
- Employee tree plantings, which help fund more trees for kids
- Tree shipping, logistics, and delivery
- Indoor plant kit creation and delivery for kids living in apartments
- Youth engagement and education
If you would like to create an employee volunteer experience with / for Neighborhood Forest, please contact us!

Backing LatAm's Middle Class will select 8-10 entrepreneurs who increase economic mobility, help more people move into the middle class, and address systemic barriers that exist for entering the middle class (especially those that disproportionately affect women). We will work with startups that are creating continued growth in job opportunities, alternative access to the benefits that formal employment offers, additional opportunities to shore up financial health and even create wealth, access to financial resources, and consistent access to quality education.
We will be looking for mentors to participate in this session. Ideally, we are looking for employees within the organization that can offer insight into the process of establishing the target customer for a product or service and finding the right acquisition and communication channels with them.
In this session, volunteers will participate as mentors to the entrepreneurs participating in the program. They will meet with the companies to discuss client segmentation, their key assumptions, and market feedback plans.
The session will follow this format:
-Introductions and Break into Small Groups: Each group will be formed by two mentors and two companies.
-Small Group Work: Each company will have 35 minutes to go over their customer discovery plan and get feedback from mentors.
-Full Group Debrief
Before the Session:
-Volunteers will receive a calendar invitation and a Mentor Packet including information about the session and the companies one week before the session.
-The session will be held in spanish, but live translation to portuguese/english will be available if needed.

BAVC Media is looking for volunteers to help plan outreach for our annual campaign to support programming for women and nonbinary filmmakers, and to launch an inaugural awards event that will celebrate leading women and nonbinary filmmakers in the Bay Area.BAVC Media has been an advocate for media makers in San Francisco and the surrounding area for 45 years, supplying the tools, resources, and support they need to tell their stories. One of our core offerings is Reel Stories: a program that provides young women and non-binary media makers with rigorous training in filmmaking techniques and media literacy while creating safe and supportive environments for participants to express themselves. Reel Stories directly addresses barriers young women and non-binary people face in STEAM education and media through a gender-equity focused curriculum, an emphasis on community and mentorship, and experienced instructors who support students’ development and growth. Through summer and afterschool programs, workshops, screenings, and mentorship, Reel Stories is creating a pipeline of young female and non-binary creators ready to share their artistic visions and stories. Reel Stories provides full and partial scholarships so that no one is turned away from our programs. Programs are based in Oakland via school campuses, after school and during the summer at camps.
In mid-May, BAVC Media will launch a crowdfunding campaign, with the goal of raising $30k to make it possible for more young filmmakers to participate in Reel Stories programs in 2022. The campaign will culminate in a new signature community event that will showcase incredible women and non-binary filmmakres in the Bay Area, provide a window into Reel Stories programming and the young people BAVC Media serves, and broaden BAVC Media and Reel Stories’ base of donors and supporters.
We are seeking #twitterforgood volunteers to help support this campaign, and to launch our inaugural Reel Stories awards event. Meeting with us virtually, and using our digital assets, volunteers will help us spread the reach of our kickstarter campaign to attract people that care about our cause - supporting us in reaching a new audience of folks who haven't heard of us yet! We need help with social media strategy, engaging with influencers, adapting assets, etc. Volunteers will directly support our Campaign Manager, Development Director, and other members of our project team. Volunteers who are skilled in social media strategy, graphic design, analytics, and communications, will be especially useful to our project. Those more directly impacted by this project will be teen girls and non-binary youth seeking to build their mediamaking skills.
We will also have volunteer opportunities for people that want to volunteer in-person for our awards event at KQED headquarters on June 23 from 4pm - 8pm.
