Mission Statement
Cure Brain Cancer’s mission is to increase brain cancer survival and improve the quality of life for everyone impacted by this devastating disease.
About This Cause
Brain cancer kills more people under 40 than any other cancer and more children than any other disease. The figures are stark: there are an estimated 1,924 new cases per year; the five year survival rate is only 23% and there are an estimated 1,579 deaths each year. These numbers do not capture the full human toll—lives lost, families devastated, and communities grieving. Unlike other cancers where survival rates have significantly improved, brain cancer has been left behind. Over the past 30 years, the five-year survival rate has increased only marginally—from 19% to 23%. By contrast, breast cancer survival rose from 63% to 96%. Cure Brain Cancer Foundation believes that brain cancer is not incurable it is underfunded, under researched and underestimated. We have a clear path to dramatically improve survival, accelerate research breakthroughs, and strengthen support for patients, families, and carers. Currently we are: funding world-class, patient-focused research; expanding access to clinical trials and treatments; supporting patients and families through advocacy and services, driving public awareness and media engagement and influencing policy reform and investment at all levels of government. As the only national organisation solely dedicated to eliminating brain cancer, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation plays a unique role—catalyst, funder, and convener. We unite patients, carers, clinicians, and researchers to foster collective action. We are independent, yet deeply connected to our grassroots communities, with strong community, business, and government partnerships. Our vision is simple: Survival must become the expectation, not the exception.
