Mission Statement

We have a time-critical mission to improve brain cancer survival from 20% to 50% by 2023.

About This Cause

Since 2013, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation have been at the forefront of changing the global brain cancer landscape beyond recognition. That year, we launched a new strategy to do things differently, think laterally and drive more rapid breakthroughs and we’ve gone from funding one lab in New South Wales to supporting more than 40 research projects across the world. The collaborations we’ve enabled have laid the groundwork for breakthroughs, and now we need to find them. Our research strategy funds the entire research pathway, focusing on getting treatments from the lab bench to a patient’s bedside as quickly as possible. Projects are selected for funding following competitive application processes and assessment by a world-class, independent Scientific Advisory Committee made up of the world’s leading brain cancer minds. Since 2013, we’ve committed more than $18 million to these kinds of projects, including almost $8 million for paediatric-related projects benefitting Australia’s sickest kids. Brain cancer advocacy and awareness is just as important. Without our leadership, the 2017 Senate Select Committee into Funding for Research into Low Survival Cancers and the subsequent formation of the Australian Brain Cancer Mission would not have happened. We now have a $127 million national plan to double survival by 2027, fronted by the Australian Government. We are a proud partner of this Mission and will commit $20 million to it by October 2027. The groundwork has been laid for real breakthroughs. Now, we must capitalise and truly change the world for people impacted by this awful disease.
