About This Cause

Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center is entering their 11th year of providing therapeutic horseback riding activities for children who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Through the efforts of volunteers, donations, and sponsors, we have continued to provide equine activities for children with special needs, regardless of their ability to pay. We believe that horseback riding allows children to improve their physical, social, and cognitive abilities, and that the horse is a means of exercise as well as a warm friendly companion. Our dedicated PATH Int. Registered Instructors and Team of trained dedicated volunteers have the joy of watching miracles occur weekly, as goals are met and students gain confidence, skill, and muscle control. With the recent addition of our Horses for Heroes Program, Breaking Free has reached out to provide services to veterans, at no cost to them. We also offer programs for at-risk teens, able bodied riders, and day camps. Breaking Free serves clients in southeastern Ohio, providing a unique service that is not available anywhere else in the area. As we continue to grow and serve more clients, our dream of building an indoor riding arena on our property is an important step, and we are counting on the help of local community businesses who recognize the value and benefit in what we are able to provide. If you still are undecided, we invite you to come spend an hour with our Breaking Free students, and we guarantee that you will leave with a smile on your face! we are a 501c3 charity and your donations are 100% tax deductible.
