Mission Statement

Covenant House Florida (CHF) is dedicated to serving all youth, with absolute respect and unconditional love, to help youth experiencing homelessness, and to protect and safeguard all young people in need.

About This Cause

For over 40 years, Covenant House Florida (CHF) has helped thousands of young people experiencing homelessness find a path to sustainable independence through our locations in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Every young person who comes to us brings a unique story—and with it a complex set of needs. Their experiences reflect the urgent demand for comprehensive services that address immediate crises, heal past traumas, and build hope for a brighter future. Youth experiencing homelessness face immense vulnerabilities that often lead to a cycle of crisis and exposure to high-risk behaviors. Many of those we serve have endured domestic violence, trafficking, family instability, substance use, mental illness, and physical or sexual abuse. They arrive at CHF seeking safety and support. Upon entry, many face additional barriers such as limited education, low literacy, minimal work experience, and untreated mental health conditions. These challenges often leave them in “survival mode,” unable to envision a positive future. Our team meets them where they are—with empathy, expertise, and a belief in their potential. We provide trauma-informed care and empower each young person to make decisions that positively shape the direction of their lives. At our Fort Lauderdale Safe Haven, we offer more than food and shelter. We provide a full continuum of in-house programs designed to help young people gain the stability, skills, and confidence needed to exit homelessness for good. These services include individual and group counseling, life skills classes, career and education navigation, parenting support, on-site health care, and both transitional living and rapid rehousing programs. Through these offerings, young people gain the tools and knowledge necessary for long-term independence. Our Orlando Community Resource Center serves as a vital drop-in hub, where youth can access essentials such as food, clothing, internet, phone services, baby supplies, and weather-safe shelter. It also hosts weekly life skills and financial literacy classes, career coaching, and educational navigation. Additionally, we provide outreach services, cultural enrichment events, connections to cand transitional housing to young people across Central Florida. In the past year alone, 94% of youth served by our Orlando site were from Orange County, and 76% of those at our Fort Lauderdale site came from Broward County. Those coming from outside these areas typically live in nearby Florida counties, underscoring CHF’s vital role as a local safety net for vulnerable youth. At Covenant House Florida, we believe that with the right support, every young person has the power to rewrite their story. We invite you to join us in helping them build the futures they deserve.
